FlexDrop2 on Location

A lesson produced by WebPhotoSchool®

The FlexDrop is a fast and easy backdrop you can take anywhere. Even outside the reversible chroma-key green/blue fabric prevents light from coming through and contaminating your shot. Here we’ll show you an example of using the Flex Drop on location.

With the reversible backdrop, you can choose the color that best contrasts the subject you will shoot. This makes the post production much faster and easier.

We used the green side of the FlexDrop because our model is wearing a blue top.

    Figure 1

In this set up image, we see how the Photoflex FlexDrop² was used as the background for the first part of this shot. Shooting the model in the same lighting environment as the image we intend to use as our background will make the final shot look very natural.

    Figure 2

In this setup, we see the actual crop of the shot we’ll use in the foreground of the final image. Here we see how using natural light makes the shot look like it fits into the background. Using the Photoflex FlexDrop² with the Chroma-Key colors, we can now import this shot into Photoshop and remove the green background.

    Figure 3

This is the image we used as our new background.

    Figure 4

Here is our final shot. Using Photoshop, we removed the background from our model shot and placed it into our harbor scene to give a very real and natural look.
