Topics Covered:

  • Setting the main light
  • Setting a fill light
  • Setting a back light

Equipment Used:

    Figure 1

We set up a Medium LiteDome and strobe head on a Boom and Boom Stand.

    Figure 2

This main light was positioned above and in front of our model.

    Figure 3

This is the result. We are off to a good start.

    Figure 4

We added a small HalfDome2 low and in front of our model.

    Figure 5

This shots shows the model and both lights in position on the set.

    Figure 6

This is the result. It is a bit brighter and now there are highlights in her eyes.

    Figure 7

This is a close-up comparison of the original one-light shot and the two-light shot.

    Figure 8

We added a back light pointed at the model to provide a glow around the edges of our model. This light accepts gels for adding color to the light.

    Figure 9

This is the result. The back light really brightens up the shot.

    Figure 10

This is another shot with the same lighting set up.

    Figure 11

This shot was taken after adding a magenta gel to the back light.

    Figure 12

    Here's another more playful shot.

    Figure 13

We added a wrap for a different look.
