The Starlite QL features a porcelain flange [figure 1] around the base of the bulb to protect you from the risk of electrocution. Unlike other manufacturers' [figure 2] products which leave the threads protruding from the socket, which can result in an extremely unpleasant shock.

The Starlite QL's Tilt Swivel Mount is a very secure mount that is capable of a tilt range of 170˚. This is far superior to the capabilities of other manufacturers' mounts which are hindered by the permanent attachment of reflectors or soft box connectors.

The Starlite QL features a swivel mount track which allows for a counterbalance weight when you are using larger soft boxes. You can move the swivel forward or backwards to compensate for the lighting accessory you are using.

The Starlite QL has a quick release lever that allows for a quick and easy disconnect from the Soft Box Connector. This is a unique safety precaution that Photoflex has taken so that photographers don’t have to take down and handle hot lights to change or adjust a light modifier.

The Starlite QL was designed so that the bulb would sit in the middle of your light modifier. This means that you will not be wasting any light and the size of your light source will stay true to the size of your soft box. If you are using a light that has a built-in reflector you are not using your light efficiently because the reflector is focusing the light inside your soft box and not allowing it to spread and take advantage of the size of the soft box. Ultimately, this diminishes the size of your light source, for example, if you have a large soft box and it is not filling completely with light you are not getting a light source comparable to the size of the soft box.

While other manufacturers are producing different lights for different light modification needs, the Starlite QL provides the one light source that can easily be adapted for different needs. Our Starlite QL is compatible with our OctoDome, HalfDome, SilverDome, and WhiteDome light modifiers.

The OctoDome has a narrower profile and wider angle of light dispersion then a standard soft box and has more wrap around when moved in close to your subject.

The HalfDome is a long narrow soft box for vertical or horizontal lighting. It is perfect for the product photographer who needs narrow highlights. Portrait photographers also love the HalfDome because of its extraordinary capability as a hair light and narrow fill light.

The SilverDome is a rectangular soft box that gives you the ability to position it vertically or horizontally to control the angle of light for people or product photography.

The WhiteDome is one of our most versatile soft boxes. The sides are removable to create a big soft light source. Adding one or more sides onto the WhiteDome enables the photographer/videographer to control light onto the subject and eliminate unwanted reflections.

Our Starlite QL features a detachable power cord [figure 11.1] with a heavy-duty switch. The reason we put the on/off switch on the cord instead of the light was for ease of operation [figure 11.2] when operating the Starlite at heights outside of your reach. When the power switch is on the light itself [figure 11.3] you have no ability to turn the light off or on without readjusting the height of your light every time.

The Starlite QL is compatible with the Starlite halogen bulbs, the CoolStar 150w CFL bulbs, standard Edison bulbs, as well as with Bi-Pin (G9.5) bulbs using our Bi-Pin Adapter. Once again we made our light as versatile as possible so that you can have one light with multiple capabilites rather then many different lights for one specific use.
